Work on the building programme is progressing on schedule.

The demolition of the single storey music extension and the single storey lean to’s to both the front and rear of the gym have now been completed, as has the piling for the new dining room extension.
Due to careful planning and co-operation between the Academy and the chosen contractors (Mansell Construction) all this work has been achieved without causing any disruption to the Academy’s exam programme which began on May 6th and continues until late in June.

Work to be completed over the coming weeks includes laying the foundations for the new extensions to both the dining room and sports centre as well as removing the top soil at the site of the main new build in order to allow the piling for this construction to begin. Following on from that the foundations will be laid and shortly afterwards the necessary steelwork will be erected.

In addition, over the half-term the trees and bushes in front of the Laboratory Block and House 17 are to be removed. This was a condition of the planning permission granted by Liverpool City Council and has the aim of opening up the façade of the listed Academy buildings for viewing from Belvidere Road. All trees and bushes that are to be removed as part of this process are to be replaced with new trees and plants, especially chosen by appointed landscape architects, to maintain the ability to view the façade of the buildings and encourage wildlife nesting
