DECEMBER UPDATE
The pace of work on the new teaching block continues apace at present.

Since the start of term, the steel substructure has now been completed and fireproofed, all 3 floors have been concreted and work on the roof is 70% complete

In addition, the brick work is now complete up to 1st floor level and for the new corridor which will link the “new” and “old” buildings where roof is also starting to be installed.
Very shortly it is hoped to have made the building “watertight”
The first stage of the mechanical and electrical work is now being installed and the knock through from the new building to the sports centre is well underway and should be complete in time for the Academy’s Christmas break

Within the existing building, an impressive new stage has been constructed and it is hoped soon to have this fully kitted out with lights, sound system & stage curtains to enable the Academy and its students to make full use of this new facility.
The new 6th Form dining facility has been completed and furnished and work is continuing on decorating further internal areas

Over the coming months, work will continue on the new block which should be nearing completion. The next term will also see work commence on several internal “zones” which will improve the circulation of staff and students around the building and a major external re-decoration programme will take place. The roof to House 17, the range & library has been given planning permission and listed building consent and will take place during the Easter break
