Programme
We are pleased to be able to inform you that work on our new facilities will begin during the Easter break.
The building and refurbishment programme will be as follows:
i) A compound for the contractors will be established during the Easter break and a perimeter fence erected to ensure the effective segregation of building works and staff and students.
ii) Work will then begin on the dining room extension and new changing area at the rear of the gym.
iii) At the beginning of May, the Music House extension will be demolished and work will then commence on the new building. This is due to be completed by Easter, 2009, and will contain six new Science laboratories, drama and dance studios, fitness suite, new main entrance and office areas, two new ICT suites and a new classroom.
During this period, staff and students will need to enter the Academy by using the door near the Science Labs (as during the enabling works last summer) or via House 15.
iv) The refurbishment and remodelling of the 1970’s teaching block will then commence with an estimated completion date of August, 2009.
We are all delighted that our exciting building plans can now go ahead and we look forward to being able to use our superb new facilities in the not too distant future. The Academy would also like to assure parents that every effort will be made to minimise the disruption to Academy life during the duration of the building programme, particularly during examination periods.
