Gifted & Talented Trip to FACT
On Wednesday 19th may 2010, 10 Gifted and Talented English pupils took part in MyWar: A radically personal look at conflict in the digital age to support their learning in Year 8 War Poetry lessons. On this exciting trip, pupils worked with an artist to create stock motion animated films to show their feelings about war. They also had a guided tour of the exhibition at FACT and then took part in the exhibition by recording their own war poems in the Media Lounge for other visitors to listen to.
The animated films were fantastic and a wonderful day was had by all!

Look out for photographs of this exciting event and the short films which will be posted soon. Miss Bradley, Teacher of English

'Our trip to FACT really helped me to understand the sheer horror of war. I would love to go again and add more to my animation’ Emily Pickett 8P

‘We learned about war and we saw the experiences of other people who were living in a country at war. Now that I know about normal people caught in war, I think that I could write poems from their point of view.’ Jessica Aitkin 8P

‘The activities today helped me to understand war poetry because, in the animation, we got to bring our thoughts about war to life. The tour of the exhibition helped too as it showed us things that we didn’t know before today. I learned that at the moment there are 60 wars going on.’ Keisha Cooper 8F
