It’s a blast off with books! Booked Up is a charity which gives a free book to every Year 7 in the country.
Last years scheme provided over 672,000 children with a great new book which they picked from a list of 12.

In Booked Up you can choose a book which is murderous or mysterious or interesting!
Last year Booked Up was a great success.
We interviewed Miss Murphy, the school librarian, to find out more about Booked Up this year:
Q. Do you think that last years Year 7 benefited from Booked Up?
A. They enjoyed it and I expect they will wish they were doing Booked Up again.
Q. Why did you register the Academy for the scheme?
A. Because I thought it was an exciting scheme and knew it would encourage reading. I couldn’t pass by something that was free!
Q. Did you enjoy being involved in Booked Up?
A. Yes, I love Booked Up. It is one of the highlights of my year. Also, all the English teachers get jealous and wish they had a free book as well!
Q. And finally, can you describe Booked Up in three words?
A. Inspiring, exciting, and free!
