GENERATION 21 PERFORMANCE ARTS EVENT

Congratulations to the following girls who represented Belvedere last week at the ‘Generation 21’ Event at St Hilda’s School.
The girls visited local primary schools in preparation for the event and helped the children with their dancing, singing and drama.  Well done:

BAR MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION

A certificate is awarded to Saadiqa Salisu, who was a finalist in the National Court Reporter Competition of the Bar Mock Trial Competition.
 
THE GRAND FINAL OF THE MERSEYSIDE ENTERPRISE AWARDS

The team of Y10 girls performed superbly well to finish as Runners-Up in the competition. They also won the award for the best display stand. Operating as Phoenix Marketing and with the task over two days of marketing the Olympics on Merseyside they were so very close to winning the competition.  The team of Hannah Donoghue, Amy Watkins, Kelsey Smith, Faye Massie, Alis Thomas-Mellor, Jade Vormawah, Alissa Stroud, Bronte Williams, Fay Hornby and Laura Johnson represented the Belvedere Academy with dedication and enthusiasm. They were a real credit to the Academy.

With the trophy and certificate the girls won £250 prize money as runners up, that they can decide to spend on a business related idea in the future.

SALTERS FESTIVAL OF CHEMISTRY

In the Salter’s Festival of Chemistry Forensic Science Competition held at Liverpool John Moore’s University, the following girls from 8D were awarded first prize and won £25.

They are also awarded certificates and other prizes.

2008 DESIGNERS OF THE FUTURE AWARDS
IN CONJUNCTION WITH DESIGN SHOW LIVERPOOL
The awards were open to anyone aged 14-16, and are aimed at recognising young designers with imagination and passion and were judged by a team of professional designers.
There were 3 design categories; with over 200 entries
Mrs Freeman’s year 10 GCSE Textiles group were successful in all 3 categories:
Products for the Home or Garden 
Joint second place: Louise Bradshaw
Eco-Friendly Objects & Design Ideas                
Shortlisted: Safia Kukaswadia 
Second place: Katie Chen
Products for People - Consumer items
Short listed: Safia Kukaswadia
Winner: Lauren Langley, whose product is a vest designed
for children with a chest infection. The pocket on the chest area is for a removable heat pad. The heat pad can be heated in the microwave and aromatherapy oils are added. Together with the soft polar fleece material, this gives comfort to the child.

Overall Competition Winner: Lauren Langley who won the latest Bug 2 DAB Radio.

Overall winning School: The Belvedere Academy.
