Gold Award for Cadet

A trio of cadets from Woolton Squadron, including Kellie Bateman 13J, have won gold in a national first aid competition.

The competition was held at RAF College Cranwell, Lincolnshire and was made up of first aid teams from across the UK in 900 other squadrons.

The Woolton team had to compete at squadron level, than against Merseyside, before making it to the nationals.  They were tested individually, and as a team with simulated emergency scenarios.  These included a sports accident, an unconscious casualty and a chemical burn.

Kellie said, “I am applying to do medicine at university and this has been an excellent opportunity to develop my skills, teaching me how to be calm and rational under pressure.”

If you are outgoing, adventurous and at least 13 years old, you may be interested in joining the air cadets.  They meet on Mondays and Thursdays, 7 – 9.30pm at Camp Hill Road, Woolton. Tel: 0151 421 0001 or email 2359@aircadets.org.
