By Georgia Bracey 9A, Amber Moss 9S, Becky Astbury 11R, Rhiannon Caren 11R, Yasmin Kilani and Francis Murphy
Mr Amey, our beloved science teacher, will shortly be leaving after four years of dedication and very interesting lessons (!) here at Belvedere. Hopefully by then he will have gotten his Motorhead mug back from Mr Ryder…! We interrogated him on life, likes and the real name of his band!
When do you leave?
I leave on the 25th June to Zambia with the World Challenge Team, but my official leave is on 31st August at the end of the school year.
What’s the first thing you want to do when you leave?
Travel!
Where are you going? Looking forward to anywhere in particular?
I’m going to Russia, Mongolia, Siberia, Beijing, Hong Kong, Thailand and then Australia
Why have you decided to do this?
For the climate, the lifestyle, housing, swimming pools…!
How does your family feel about your decision?
My younger brother is upset because he won’t see me again for a while, but most of my family are supportive.
How are you going to travel?
I’m going to fly to Russia, and go on the Tran Siberian Railway for 28 days.
Done much travelling before?
Yes – I’ve been to New Zealand twice, America, Germany, Spain, India twice and Greece.
What are you going to do when you get there? Carry on teaching?
Yes
Practising your Australian banter?
No, but my wife has!
Worried about black widows, spiders or snakes?
No, but I’m worried about not noticing one!
What type of house will you have?
I would like to have a big, open plan house. If it doesn’t have a swimming pool then it will be near a beach with the ocean. And a drum room.
Will you grow your hair longer?
No!
Have any friends over in Australia already?
My Godmother lives in Adelaide.
Would you save someone in shark infested water?
No
How old are you?
Hmmm… you know what, I always forget. 35. A young 35.
Describe yourself in three words:
Laidback, musical, tall (!)
What makes you laugh?
Frasier
What about your band?
No, they don’t make me laugh! Auditions for a new drummer were recently.
Before you go, tell us the actual name of your band?
‘A band with no name’
Who are your three favourite top bands?
Motorhead, Black Rose and Roland’s Band.
Didn’t you used to have a Motorhead mug?
Yes, I did, but then it went missing…

Apparently someone saw Mr Ryder with it a few months ago…
Oh really? I’ll have to have a word with him then!
What’s your worst fear?
Drowning
What are your hobbies? (apart from drumming)
Swimming, transport and listening to music.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A drummer in a rock band!
What would your last words be?
Help!
