The Newborn Appeal at the Women’s Hospital was presented with a cheque for £300 courtesy of Year 8 students.
Olivia Whiteside, Grace Clements, Katie King, Parul Singh, Kahrie Carter and Katrina Wilson of 8M, raised the money during the summer term through table sales and raffles.
There to accept the cheque was Jan Walton, mother of the famous Walton sextuplets. She thanked the girls for their kind efforts and helped escort them on a tour of the Neonatal Unit.
The experience of seeing these tiny babies was a moving one for all. As well as meeting some of the babies, the students viewed the specialist equipment used by the hospital and saw first hand where the money they raised will be spent.
