Life In The Sixth Form
ARE YOU TREATED MORE LIKE ADULTS? .....
IS THERE MORE FREEDOM?
We know that by the time you leave the Sixth Form, aged eighteen, you are adults and our aim is to help you to become independent yet responsible individuals, whose initiative is balanced with self-discipline and critical judgement. You will find that you will have considerable freedom to decide on your course of study, the distribution of your time and energy between work and other activities. You will have Sixth Form accommodation entirely to yourselves, with extensive Common Room facilities, a kitchen and quiet study rooms.
IS ALL THIS TRUE? IS IT DIFFERENT?
The answer to this is both “yes” and “no”. You will find that
being in the Sixth Form is a new, exciting and rewarding part of your Academy career. The status of the Sixth Form is such that you are regarded differently from younger members of the Academy community, you have special privileges and opportunities and you will have to take more initiative over and responsibility for your work programme. However, for existing students The Belvedere remains reassuringly the same so you can make the transition to this new and freer phase of education in familiar surroundings, in the company of your friends and with the help of staff who already know you and with whom you feel relaxed.
IN THE SIXTH FORM .................
