Sixth Form

Dear Potential Sixth Form Student,
Belvedere has high academic standards. Our Sixth Form has earned a well deserved reputation for academic excellence. The teaching is professional, knowledgeable and disciplined, but there are warm, friendly and supportive relationships in the class room. Academically, you will be encouraged to stretch yourself and grow in confidence, with teachers who care about your progress and come to know you well.
A Sixth Form education at the Belvedere Academy brings together everything that is best about post -16 education. There is an extensive range of opportunities: academic, extra curricular and social.
The Academy will offer a wide range of A Level subjects as well as numerous extension studies and our students have an outstanding record of success. In 2009, the A level pass rate was 99%, with 39% of all examinations passed at grade A and 67% at grades A or B. Most students, perhaps not surprisingly, gained their first choice of university!
If, after the Open Evening, you decide you would like to study at The Belvedere Academy, you should download and complete the application form and return it to the school by the date specified. We will then request a reference from your current school and you will be invited to attend an interview. If successful, you will be offered a provisional place which will be confirmed once we have received your GCSE grades. The requirement for studying in the Sixth Form will be at least 5 passes at Grade B or above. Where subjects have been studied for GCSE, we would normally expect students to have gained at least A or B grades in order to continue studying at Advanced Level.
We extend a warm welcome to new students who invariably settle quickly into the friendly Sixth Form atmosphere. Staff and students alike will be keen to get to know you, to help you adjust to the school and support your learning in this new environment.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Rachel Cliffe
Director of Sixth Form
