Student Planner & Homework Diary
How you should use your Student Planner and Homework Diary
Every student is issued with a Student Planner & Homework Diary for the year. This is an important organisational tool for students. The Student Planner, in the main should be used to:
- Write down a personal timetable
- Record homework
- Note down any important dates
The Student Planner will be signed by Form Tutors, and should also be signed by parents/carers each week.
The Student Planner & Homework Diary has been designed especially for The Belvedere Academy. Students should carry their planner with them at all times. Students will also be required to pay for any loss or damage to the planner.
Advice on how to make best use of the Student Planner & Homework Diary:
- Always bring your planner to school
- Take out your planner at the start of every lesson
- Take care to keep your planner neat and tidy
- Record every homework task in your planner
- Use your planner to decide when you will work on your tasks
- Always place a tick against tasks when completed
- Remember to record your achievements
- Ask a parent/guardian to look over your planner with you at least once each week. Ask him or her to sign in the space provided
- Your planner will be reviewed and checked regularly by Academy staff
The Student Planner is more than a Homework Diary.
It is designed to help you:
- Plan your work
- Manage your time
- Record your achievements
- Review your progress
- Set targets for improvement
Core Skills that you should aim to develop
Communication
Communication includes talking and listening, reading and writing. For example, using the telephone, taking part in discussions, writing letters and reports, understanding information from a leaflet
Numeracy
Numeracy involves using tables, diagrams, graphs and symbols and working with money and measurements
Problem Solving
Problem Solving involves thinking through a situation, deciding what to do and how to do it, getting resources together and finding a solution. Future work can be improved by thinking about how successful the plan was and how well it was carried out
Using Information Technology
Using Information Technology involves finding, processing, presenting and communicating information. For example, using the internet and e-mail, preparing documents and presentations
Working with Others
Working with others involves agreeing how members of a group will tackle a task, and completing an activity. Group members consider how effective their own contribution has been
