Belvedere Rising Stars
Belvedere Rising Stars is an enrichment programme for students from Years 8 to 13, which promotes high aspirations amongst all pupils by providing opportunities for them to engage in intellectually-challenging activities. The programme is being launched as a new initiative this school year, taking place every Thursday after school.
Belvedere’s Rising Stars take part in a range of different activities, all of which are designed to help them become articulate, confident and curious young people. Each half term has a clear focus:
Autumn Term: Debate Mate
Spring Term: University Challenge
Summer Term: Discover your Voice
We also have a termly Guest Speaker, both academics and professionals, allowing students to explore ‘beyond the curriculum’. Equally, students are encouraged to use the ‘Read/Watch/Listen’ tool on Unifrog, which provides them with access to a wealth of ‘super curricular’ materials. The programme links to both our whole school curriculum intent that pupils 'know more, remember more and do more over time', and our ethos pillars of being ‘Brave, Bold and Belvedere’.
Belvedere Rising Stars includes the following opportunities to name a few:
Aspire Liverpool (Y10 and Y12)
Higher Project Qualification (Y9-Y10)
Early Entry support (Sixth Form)
Liverpool Schools Parliament
Essay Competitions
Oxplore Book Club (Y7-Y9)
National Oracy Week/Discover your Voice
Sutton Trust Summer Schools (Y12)
High Aspirations for All- assemblies and form time activities.
Belvedere Rising Stars engages pupils from all year groups in thinking about aspiring to specific educational routes and careers. By the time students reach Sixth Form, we then provide bespoke support to students in Years 12 and 13, with access to outreach programmes, Summer Schools and subject taster sessions, designed to encourage and facilitate successful next steps; whether those be university, apprenticeships or employment.
Every student on the programme will have an Aspirations meeting each term, to discuss their progress across all areas of life at Belvedere- including, academic, effort, and enrichment. The aim of this is to support our Rising Stars and encourage them to take responsibility for their own development.
A final key intent of the programme is to promote whole school oracy, ensuring that students leave Belvedere as confident and eloquent life- long learners.
