Sociology is the study of social life, social groups and societies. It is an exciting subject that involves studying a wide range of contemporary real life issues relating to the family, education, stratification and inequality, religion, mental health and illness and crime and deviance.
Students will develop a critical understanding of society. They will explore and debate contemporary social issues so that they are able to challenge everyday understandings of social phenomena from a sociological perspective.
Studying Sociology at A Level will enable students to develop a ‘sociological imagination’ in order to develop a more in-depth and critical understanding of the social world today.
